Is it worth setting up an LPG installation?

The holiday period is slowly coming to an end, but according to the analyzes, we can not expect a reduction in fuel prices at stations, as it was in the corresponding years in this period. Almost every driver visiting Polish stations has become accustomed to prices far exceeding PLN 5 per liter of unleaded petrol.

When looking for cheaper solutions, an increasing number of drivers are considering setting up LPG installations for their car. In today's entry, we will try to expand the doubts related to the installation and check the time after which the costs of its installation are depreciated.

Gas installation in every car?

Almost every car is suitable for installing a gas installation. However, it should be noted that some engines are less able to tolerate the mixture of propane and butane. It's worth checking out the expert involved in installing the installation before installation, or if our car equipped with a specific engine type works with the gas system, without reducing the life of individual components.

In the search for information, you can use opinions found on forums created by users of a given car brand or among friendly mechanics. However, we recommend the final decision after visiting at least two independent plants dealing with LPG assembly.
The costs of setting up LPG installations

To this question, each of the car owners can get an answer that will significantly differ from each other. The type of engine in the vehicle has a specific effect on the installation cost. If you drive an older car with one-point fuel injection, the cost of installation will be lower than for newer models of cars equipped with multi-point fuel injections or models with turbo.
Engines with one-point fuel injection

Depending on the materials used in the installation and what type of engine we have, the cost of installation can amount to approx. PLN 1600 for the basic installation in cars with one-point fuel injection. It is worth taking care of the additional control system, in order to ensure the best fuel mixture, it will positively affect the collector.
Newer car models

Holders of car models with multi-point fuel injection, it is usually recommended to install a sequential installation with direct gas injection. Such installations are among the safest and have the least impact on engine life. However, with the precision of operation and high quality of the installation, the costs of setting up such an installation increase. The price of this installation will depend on the selection of the part, as well as the cost of the specialist's work.

Sequential gas installation is a choice for definitely younger and more modern car models, and its cost can range from PLN 2,000 to often amounts exceeding PLN 3,500.
Adaptation of the installation to the engine

The installation specialist should decide on the type of installation for your car. It is he who is responsible for its correct installation, precise setting and later for its servicing. It is worth going to a plant specializing only in setting up a gas installation, thanks to which we will be sure that the installer will choose the optimal settings adapted to our car. Deciding on the choice of the workshop, let us not be guided by the price and opinions about the workshop and the integrity of the editor. It is important not only to choose durable and high-quality parts, but also to choose the right LPG tank, infusion area or even the switch itself.

 
When will you start saving?

We presented price ranges for the installation and assembly, but it is worth checking when these costs will be refunded and how much savings you can count on. The annual mileage, as well as the time we intend to operate the vehicle, have an impact on whether the installation will be profitable.
How to calculate costs?

Counting the time after which the installation will be returned to us should not cause any problem to anyone. The first step is to determine how much gasoline the car burns during 100 km of the route.

In our calculations, we assumed that the car burns 9 liters of gasoline 95 in a mixed cycle. The price for gasoline is the average amount that drivers paid at stations in the last week of August - 5.14 zlotys per liter. Which gives us PLN 46.26 for every 100 kilometers traveled.

In the case of a gas installation, approximately 11 liters of gas will be needed at the same distance. The price for gas in an adequately the same period was on average PLN 2.28, which gives us PLN 25.08 for 100 kilometers.

 

For every 100 kilometers driven on gas, PLN 21.18 is left in our portfolio.

When installing a sequential installation for PLN 2,000, it is returned to us after covering about 9,000 kilometers.
